In the fifth message of our series "The Making of a Servant", we see how Joshua was jealous for Moses. Moses, however, was not prideful or egocentric; he was not concerned for his own glory and honor. Pastor Kent Sperry points out that, in the same way, we are not to be concerned about our glory and honor. We're to consider others, and their gifts, to be just as essential as our own in the work of the church.

The Bible tells us that the end is coming soon. And this is something that is frightening to many people, even believers. Is the end really something to fear? Even with the dreadful things that are to take place, do believers in Jesus have reason to be afraid? Pastor Kent Sperry looks at these questions in a message based on Luke 21:25-36 and Malachi 4:1-6.

Even though we profess faith in the Lord, when we have questions we often go not to him but turn instead to another source of truth. As we see in our lesson for this morning, doing so is idolatry. Unless we repent and seek the Lord's mercy, it's something that brings his wrath.

As Jesus hung on the cross, one of the final words spoken before his death was the word of forgiveness. Jesus prayed for his persecutors and asked God to forgive them. In this message, Pastor Kent Sperry points out that this is a great encouragement. It encourages us because we know that, if Jesus desired their forgiveness, they also desired ours. It's also an example for us to seek the forgiveness of those who harm us.

Even if their ministry seems limited by the raising of children, we have to realize that this is the greatest ministry they could possibly possess.

In this message we see that, because of their outward circumstances, Abraham and his wife tried to fulfill the promise of God their own way. We often do the same thing, acting as if God needs our guidance and wisdom to determine the best way to accomplish his will. In this message, Pastor Kent Sperry points out that we need to simply trust God. He's powerful enough to do what he says, and he's faithful to his Word.

In Luke 19 we see that Jesus wept over Jerusalem. He knew the punishment the city would endure because the people didn't recognize the time of this coming. Pastor Kent Sperry points out that, in the same way, we should weep for those in our world who are going to hell. And this sorrow should motivate us to heed God's calling by reaching out with the message of the gospel.

Everyone says that the church is full of hypocrites, and it is. There are many people in the church who are trying to impress and gain the admiration of others. And to do so, they pretend to be better than they really are. Instead of impressing others, we should simply live out our faith and honor the God who redeemed us.
